I love open source, ergo here is a theme for the open source minimalist CMS: Pixie CMS

It’s called 12B the name based on the project I’m launching soon called Twelve Bursts.

Emily from Global Housing Management called asking about the company who I work for and our accomodation for the Energy Solutions event in October 2010. She left the telephone number of: 808 234 2584, I asked if this was a UK number and she said yes. (It is – apologies) When you call the number you get put through to GHM Travel.

The lady who called me was in experienced and the issue has been kindly sorted by Robert Kneeland of Global Housing Management to explain the situation thoroughly.

• A fully functional Linux system, however without the usual desktop (you already have got one from Windows)
• A second Xfce panel e.g. at the top of your Windows desktop, from which you can start Linux applications.
• Linux applications and Windows applications can be used simultaneously and you can cut and paste text between them, pipes (a Windows application writes something into a Linux application) do work as well.
• Synaptic to install further applications. Synaptic on Windows – why did no-one think of this before?!

This is a great system for those must have Linux app’s you have to use when you have to use a Windows system, this is obviously for people who use Linux already and have to use Windows in some aspect of their life for either work on an application that Wine can’t quite do just yet.

So I joined on November 25, 2007. With no followers and no people to follow, now as I write this I’m following 492 and have 712 followers. As to how I got so many followers, I have no idea.

So 55% of my tweets are replies to people, and I really do find that conversation is the greatest part of Twitter, gettting my point/question over in 140 characters or less is surprisingly liberation. I don’t have to add meaningless ‘lols’ and ‘rofl’ to my messages as it wastes space.

My tweets are spread evenly accross the week and accross the day, however I’m quietest on the weekend and that most of my Tweets are from the web interface.

So as for the milestones on Twitter:

I found out I hadn’t got a job on Twitter when an agency failed to contact me. I noticed an @message to the guy who interviewed me from the guy who got the job saying he was looking forward to starting work.

Royal Mail sorted out a problem when I mentioned it on Twitter in less time than I was on hold waiting for their Customer Service reps to answer the phone.

I called a girl out who was spreading fake information about a man being a peadophile and then got called a c**t by her.

Getting to meet extremely like minded people and not so extremely like minded people to share thoughts with.

I got to be really involved with the ORG and Digital Economy Bill protesting.

..there are probably countless more but I need more time to list them.

So on my way to 3,000 tweets and I’m glad I’m on twitter. Feel free to follow me @ryanmcdonough

LA Techniques

LA Techniques was a website for a hair and beauty salon, the website needed to create a visual impact and provide information about their services.

This website was built upon WordPress and use:

HTML, CSS and jQuery.

Envirotherm - Website

Envirotherm was a website built for a comapny who help people find grants and energy reduction assessors. The website was required to be an easy to read and easy to use experience for the users and produce a high impact impress.

This website uses:

PHP, HTML, CSS.

Website for MMU Didsbury

Manchester Metropolitan University required a fresh new look with search functionality for their CPD students, building within their framework and build an apple style suggestive search and integrating  jquery into the pages allowed for smooth transistions and content display.

In this project I used:
PHP, MYSQL, jQuery and CSS

This basically allows you to hide a div and show it when a specified tag is clicked, in the example it is using the H3 tag to be the tag that when clicked shows and hide the following div.

The code above checks for any div or h3 tags within the div with the class of ‘types’, and when a h3 tag inside the types div is clicked it will find the next div tag and then show/hide it dependant on it whether it is currently hidden or shown.

This is corresponding HTML code for the JS, as you can see the entire block is surrounded by a div with the class of ‘types’ so you can have h3 tags outside of this block and the JQuery won’t affect them or any div tags that follow.

After season 10 with the rather boring set of heavyweights, with one fighters tatic being to simply weigh down the other fighter and just pummel him, a much fresher and varied skill set season was required.

Chuck Lidell and Tito Ortiz are the coaches for this season, which is going to make for an amazing rematch at the end of the season, with the jibes of tapping to punches already starting.

With Jamie Yager winning with a knockout kick and Joseph Henele with an armbar, it’s going to make for a very interesting season
